ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Goran Ivanisevic was selected Monday to play in next month's Davis Cup matches against the United States, ending doubts about whether he would compete.

He will be joined by Ivan Ljubicic, Lovro Zovko and Mario Ancic for the Feb. 7-9 matches in Zagreb, Croatia captain Nikola Pilic said.

Before the announcement, Ivanisevic had tentatively been set to play only doubles, provided he played at all.

Last week, the hard-serving 2001 Wimbledon champion withdrew from a second-round match at a Challenger event in Heilbronn, Germany. He had told Croatian papers that chronic pain in his arm might prevent him from playing in the Davis Cup.

Injured Roddick Out of U.S. Davis Cup Clash

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Australian Open semi-finalist Andy Roddick has not been named in the United States' Davis Cup team to play Croatia next month due to a wrist injury, a U.S. tennis official said on Tuesday.

Roddick injured his wrist in his 7-5 2-6 6-3 6-3 Australian Open semi-final loss to Germany's Rainer Schuettler, and underwent a scan on the injury on Monday.

"Andy has severe tendinitis in his right wrist," Davis Cup captain Patrick McEnroe said on Tuesday. "He's been told not to pick up a racket for a couple of weeks."

McEnroe instead named James Blake, Mardy Fish, Taylor Dent and Robby Ginepri in the team for the trip to Zagreb for the world group first-round tie that will be played from February 7 to 9.

Asked about the absence of Australian Open champion and U.S. Open champion Pete Sampras who have both opted out of Davis Cup play McEnroe added: "I want players who want to be there. I don't lose sleep over the guys who aren't playing."

Blake and Fish are expected to play the singles, with the doubles pairings still undecided.

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic who underwent shoulder surgery last May and has only played once since, was named in Croatia's team for the tie, but will only play doubles.

Ivan Ljubicic, Lovro Zovko and Mario Ancic make up the rest of the Croatian team.

The winner of the U.S. v Croatia tie will meet the winner of Spain v Belgium in the quarter-finals.
