Hi everyone!

What terrible news about Goran not being at Wimbledon!! This means we won't get to see him play for absolutely ages!! Still at least when he does return he'll stand a chance of winning some more tournaments. I've left a message on GoranIvanisevic.com; maybe we should all do that to give Goran our support at this very difficult time for him, he must be gutted!! Its funny but I was going to get tickets for Liverpool last week, but something (sixth sense?) told me not to, my commiserations to anyone who got tickets for Liverpool/Wimbledon hoping to see Goran.

Anyway, lets hope everything goes great with the surgery, I for one can't wait to see him back in action, even if we have to wait until 2003!!

Bye for now

Sad news!!!!!!

Goran Ivanisevic will not defend his Wimbledon title in June after
agreeing
to undergo shoulder surgery, his agent said on Tuesday.

The Croatian left-hander, who became the first wild card to win the
men's
singles last year, will have the operation to repair a tear in his left
shoulder next week in Heidelberg, Germany.

He said in a statement: "I wanted so much to play that opening match on
Monday at Wimbledon on Centre Court. I am very disappointed but I have
no
choice. I'm also disappointed for my supporters and all those who were
looking forward to seeing me at Wimbledon."

Ivanisevic has been troubled by a shoulder problem for some time and he
has
been quoyed as saying the pain is "insufferable".

He entered last year's Wimbledon with shoulder problems and a
triple-figure
world ranking but beat Australian Pat Rafter in a thrilling five-set
final
to become the first man to win a grand slam tournament with a wild
card.

Earlier in the day, agent Jasmine Kafafian of Elite Management had
insisted
that Ivanisevic would not miss the tournament in SW19

That what a friend send me in an e-mail...Wimbledon 2003 for Goran? for sure :)

The tickets for the Liverpool event seemed really difficult to get hold of! Still glad I didn't try too hard :(

I was just watching my Wimbledon 2001 vid earlier this week again, sad he won't be back to defend his title, even if it was just for the first Monday.

Think there are any chances of seeing him the crowd instead?

they try and they try but everything that they do
is the ghost of a trace of a pale imitation of you

I'm glad I didn't try and get hold of the Liverpool tickets now. Wimby won't be the same without Goran. Please God don't let this be Henmans year (no offence to Henman fans) Wimby is going to be so strange this year with Rafter missing too. I don't feel motivated to watch it now.

I would have been able to get tickets for Liverpool, but had exams at the same time, which really annoyed me ... until I found out he wouldn't be there. Have to agree that I hope Henman doesn't win - anyone else remember the hype last year that if he beat Goran (because of course if he got to the final he'd win) there would be a Henman holiday? Gnuh. It is a pity that Rafter won't be there either. It would be nice to see one of the young players win, but hopefully not Hewitt.
