Goran's Croatian cruise grounded by broken engine - 20th July 2001
A broken boat engine has forced Goran Ivanisevic and his model girlfriend Tatjana Dragovic to cut short their holiday. Their cruiser the Veselka, named after Goran's grandmother, limped back into Split late on Thursday using just the reserve engine. They had been island-hopping off Croatia. The 29-year-old is now reported to be back in training.
It was rumoured that Goran would propose to the 25-year-old model during the trip. But they were tight-lipped in Split, with Goran focussing on the upcoming American leg of the international tennis circuit. He says he is going to get back into shape at his old tennis club - Club Split - ready to defend his ranking on the American courts.
Local newspaper reporter Davor Baric said: "He is very superstitious and will be happy to be training up at his old club, the same one where he got ready for Wimbledon."
A local authority spokesman says he understands the couple are setting up home on the outskirts of the town, in Meje district where they have applied for planning permission for a house in the woods.
